It may be that this is the new climate for Alaska?

Meanwhile smoke and lowered visibility at the surface drifts around over Alaska depending upon winds. I wonder how deep/height the smoke gets? Some pilots report the smoke tops at 10K MSL plus:

http://aawu.arh.noaa.gov/index.php?tab=4

GaryNL7Yhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15874712728971005352noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4572286363399496963.post-66582037238727035042015-07-07T10:09:25.806-08:002015-07-07T10:09:25.806-08:00Agreed, Gary. I am curious as to the correlations of the North American Regional Reanalysis (NARR) and the ERA-Interim Reanalysis. Both of those are more robust (incorporation of more observational data, more layers, and smaller grid cells) but only have data back to 1979. Thank you for looking into this.Climatologist49https://www.blogger.com/profile/04560505931210357679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4572286363399496963.post-25530955596258644902015-07-06T22:33:33.430-08:002015-07-06T22:33:33.430-08:00Off topic but...10:30 pm 7/6/15 and it's still...Off topic but...10:30 pm 7/6/15 and it's still +85F at the surface. Amazing bubble of hot air above? Never in 50 years have I've experienced this length and degree of heat in Interior Alaska/Fairbanks. Needs to be documented and analyzed.

GaryNL7Yhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15874712728971005352noreply@blogger.com
