The
National Snow and Ice Data Center has tentatively called the Arctic sea ice minimum for 2010 as 4.76 million sq. km on September 10th. It is possible that this could dip lower, but given that nearly all of the sea ice is north of 75N, this is probably the minimum. This is the third lowest extent of Arctic Sea Ice in the satellite era (since 1979), and about seven percent lower than last summer's minimum of 5.10 million sq km.
