Fairbanks-land enjoyed a classic August weekend, with something like 3/4 of an inch of rain spread over Saturday and Sunday. The rain was over a long enough duration that it will not impact rivers much. Here's the
hydrograph for the upper
Chena River (near Mile 40
Chena Hor Springs Road) from the Alaska-Pacific RFC.
There was enough rain to bring monthly totals up to about normal. However, the number of days with rain since late July
is above normal, hence the widespread perception that it has been unusually wet.
