With a low of 19F this morning, Fairbanks will have the first day this autumn with a mean temperature below freezing today, October 12th. This is right at the 90 percentile of the distribution. That is, only 10 percent of years 1930-2011 have the first day with a mean temperature below freezing on October 12 or later.
