Flooding in Barrow
A strong low pressure system north of Barrow is bringing strong westerly winds to Alaska's Arctic coastline and causing coastal flooding in Barrow. Here's a webcam image from a few minutes ago (live link here):

THE COASTAL FLOOD WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON AKDT TODAY.
* WAVES AND SURF...SEAS OF 10 TO 12 FEET BREAKING OFFSHORE AND
FORCING WATER ASHORE.
* WINDS...WEST WINDS GUSTING AROUND 35 MPH TURNING SOUTHWEST BY NOON. WINDS GRADUALLY DIMINISHING.
* TIMING...THE STORM SURGE PEAKED THURSDAY EVENING AND WILL
CONTINUE TO GRADUALLY DIMINISH.
* LOCATION...BARROW.
* IMPACTS...MINOR COASTAL FLOODING IS OCCURRING. MOST ROADS NEAR THE SHORE ARE CLOSED. BERMS NEAR THE COAST ARE BEING REBUILT DUE TO THE STORM SURGE. WATER IS BEING PUSHED UP TO THE TOP OF THE BEACH AND CAUSING BEACH EROSION.
