On Friday high temperatures in Denali National Park included 7 below at Wonder Lake Rangers Station, 8 below at the Toklat rest stop and 18 below at an automated observation near the Wilderness Access Center at the east end of the Park, but a whopping +28F at Eielson Visitors Center. Why was Eielson so warm? At 3650' elevation and on the side of a mountain, it was well above any valley based inversion and into the warm air under the big high aloft that is controlling Interior Alaska weather this weekend.
