Back in the Drink

A cold airmass and only variable low cloud cover have allowed temperatures to again plunge in Fairbanks-land. Low temperatures through 10am include:

Fairbanks Airport: -41F
Goldstream  Creek: -38F
Fort Wainwright: -36F
Eielson AFB: -34F
UAF West Ridge: -32F
Keystone Ridge: -26F
Cleary Summit: -20F

  1. What's the outlook? Most long range internet sources I've read are grim, but what do they know. It's looking more like the '50's to early '60's every day.

  2. Looks chilly for some time to come, tho with occasional brief moderation. No consensus in long range models beyond late this week except that none look especially mild.

  3. It's interesting that the latest POES IR scan shows the North Slope warmer than ussin's. Wonder what's next w/o a SW flow pattern?
